Setting Up Binance

Connecting your Binance account to Awaken Tax is straightforward. Just follow these steps:

Step 1: Create Your Binance API Key

To create your API key:

  1. Log in to your Binance account and click your profile icon, then Account

  2. Select API Management and click Create API

  3. Choose System-generated (we recommend this option)

  4. Give your API key a label (e.g., "Awaken Tax")

  5. Verify with your 2FA device

  6. Save your API Key and Secret Key

Important: Keep your API Key and Secret Key safe. You'll need both to connect your account to Awaken Tax.

Step 2: Configure Your API Key Permissions

  1. In your Binance API Management page, find your newly created key

  2. Click Edit Restrictions

  3. Under IP Access Restriction, select Unrestricted (allow all IPs)

  4. Enable Read-only permission

  5. Click Confirm and verify with your 2FA device

Note: Binance will warn you about allowing unrestricted IP access for security purposes. This is normal. You can always tighten restrictions later if needed.

Step 3: Add Your Account to Awaken Tax

  1. Go to your Awaken Tax integrations

  2. Click Add Account for Binance

  3. Paste your API Key and Secret Key into the form

  4. Click Add Account

That's it! Awaken Tax will now sync your Binance transactions.

Common Issues

"Invalid API-key, IP, or permissions for action"

This error means your API key doesn't have the right permissions or IP access settings. Double-check that:

  • Your API key has Read-only permission enabled

  • IP access is set to Unrestricted
